The Potts-Smith Scissors includes angled fine tipped blades that are purpose built for precise cutting of arteries, veins, fascia and organ sheaths during cardiovascular and vascular procedures. The angled blade design gives the surgeon improved visibility and direct access to the vessel while reducing the risk of inadvertent trauma to adjacent tissue structures.
The instrument features a probe tip on one blade which allows the surgeon to safely explore and assess tissue planes before making the incision. This is particularly valuable when working around delicate vascular structures where exploratory access is needed prior to cutting.
The beveled blade edges concentrate cutting force along a fine narrow line to produce clean and well-defined dissection planes. This allows the instrument to cut through vessel walls and soft tissues smoothly without unnecessary traction or tissue distortion. The long shanks combined with short blades give the surgeon maximum reach and leverage in deep confined operative fields.
The Potts-Smith Scissors is available in multiple blade angles including 25 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees and 90 degrees to accommodate the full range of vascular access requirements encountered during cardiac and thoracic procedures. A Supercut variant is also available which incorporates a razor sharp upper blade and micro serrated lower blade for enhanced cutting performance on dense or slippery vascular tissue. A Tungsten Carbide variant is also available for extended edge retention and longer service life. Tungsten Carbide models are identified by gold colored ring handles for easy identification on the surgical tray.
The ergonomic finger ring handles provide stable and comfortable grip control throughout even the most intricate vascular dissection procedures. The lightweight streamlined body of the instrument reduces surgeon fatigue during lengthy cardiovascular operations.
Manufactured from premium grade surgical stainless steel with a satin finish to minimize intraoperative glare. Fully autoclave compatible for repeated sterilization and long term clinical reuse.
