Ballenger Sponge Forceps

The Ballenger Sponge Forceps is found on surgical trays across multiple specialties. Its primary role is to grip and hold gauze sponges and swabs that are used to clear excess blood and fluid from the operative site during surgery. The oval looped jaws hold sponge material firmly without pressing into or damaging the tissue beneath. Once locked in place using the ratchet mechanism the instrument holds independently which keeps the surgeon’s hands free for other tasks.

The Ballenger Sponge Forceps features oval looped jaws available in smooth and serrated profiles. The serrated jaw variant grips wet or slippery sponges more firmly which prevents accidental slippage during fluid absorption. The smooth jaw variant provides a gentler hold suitable for more delicate areas such as the tonsil and throat.

The straight configuration suits accessible surface level surgical sites. The curved configuration provides improved reach into deep anatomical cavities such as the uterus and cervix making it particularly valuable in gynecological procedures.

The instrument is available in multiple lengths from 7 inches to 14 inches to suit both ENT and tonsil work at the shorter end and deep abdominal or pelvic procedures at the longer end.

Manufactured from premium grade surgical stainless steel with a satin finish. Fully autoclave compatible for repeated sterilization and long term clinical use.

DELIVERY TIME:
- All instruments available in stock will be shipped within 4 to 5 business days, and you will receive a tracking number for your order by email.
- Any instruments that are not available in stock may take up to 15 business days to be manufactured and shipped.
- Shipping Time for Custom Cleared (Door to Door) orders is 13 to 15 business days and for Non-Custom Cleared orders is 8 to 10 business days.
